Zoe Saldana was born on June 19, 1978 in Passaic, New Jersey, to Asalia Nazario and Aridio Saldana. Her father is Dominican while her mother was Puerto Rican. Her mother raised her mother who lived in Queens. When she was 10 years older, she and her family were relocated into the Dominican Republic, where they were to stay for seven years. Zoe was able to establish an appreciation for dance when she lived in Dominican Republic. The prestigious ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy Zoe was taught ballet and various other dance styles. Training was not only an ideal outlet for this energetic and eager young person, but also a good way to prepare her for an acting career. Zoe's family returned to the United States when Zoe was 17 years old. She was a dancer with a passion and her desire to perform on stage increased.
